I install these in bathroom fans, and they are an absolute game changer. You can switch on your fan and keep it going for an appropriate amount of time and it will shut off after that time.Great for when you need to shower and get out of the house. The fan isn't running all day, and the bathroom stays dry - unequivocal win.I suppose you might use these for lighting, but I would imagine that a motion sensor switch would be a generally better option for lighting. However, as a bathroom switch, these are amazing. You can select one of the time buttons, or you can have it stay on, or you can turn it off - all the basic functions needed for a bathroom fan.To add to the basic functionality, in a household of multiple people this leads to the quip "that should have been a 30-minute setting" or other such ribbing. The exact time needed will vary on your fan's volumetric flow rating, the size of the space being vented, and the humidity/amount of smell being vented. For my middle-of-the-road fan, the 10 minute and 30 minute settings take care of most bathroom smells. The two hour setting is great for clearing out the master bathroom after the wife has taken a long shower. For any bathroom with a shower/tub, I prefer this combination (5/10/30/60/120/240) of times to the lesser (1/5/10/15/20/30) times of switch.I’m writing this review for one purpose. If the lights are too bright for your application you can turn them off. If you like the lights but they don’t stay on you can have them stay on permanently. One reviewer complains they are too bright and the other is upset that they turn off. Neither reviewer read the manual that tells the user to hold the top 2 buttons down (regardless if the switch is on or off) for 5 seconds and you toggle the lights on / off feature. No you cannot control brightness. Good day.Put in a new fan in my bathroom and wanted to have a timer. I originally ordered a different switch but it did not have a neutral so i had to return it. This one has a neutral and works really well. And the blue light when you enable it is not to bright but then again i have a ton of light in my bathroom so theres that. Overall great product. This digital in-wall countdown time switch did everything I was expecting. My application required the control of some small low voltage 120VAC plug in power supplies and an A/V Receiver which standard countdown timers and motion control switches without a neutral connection will not work for.The Non-Neutral versions depend on a trickle of 120Vac current going through the connected device in order to power its internal digital timer circuitry. If the load connected to the switch does not have a low enough resistance in order to conduct enough current when turned off to drive the circuity, then the timer will not function.i.e.: If you connected say a 10 watt incidence light bulb as the output load, the high resistance of that small load would not pass the "off state" circuit current to power the internal timer. If replaced with a 60 Watt bulb, it would work. That is also true of newer small plug-in power supplies (cellphone chargers), some bathroom fan motors and especially most electronic products such as TVs and A/V Receivers and amplifiers. Also, that small trickle of current required to power the timer circuity when the load is turned off can cause havoc with many electronic devices like those mentioned above.Since this timer unit has a separate neutral wire connection, it does not rely on the "trickle thru" current by way of the load device to power the internal timer circuity. And most important to me, is that it had an internal relay to switch the current instead of a Solid State Triac transistor for switching the AC. This affords this product to switch the full 15 amp current rating of the device without the danger of overloading a Triac circuit which historically fail easily with power surges, lightning and many other poor power situations. The relay contact closure also will not induce any voltage drop as the Triac switching circuitry will. However, the advantage to the Non-Relay Triac version is that since it does not require a neutral wire to operate most device loads, it can be used to directly replace a standard light switch in where no neutral wire is present in the light switch box.So be careful when ordering. This timer unit is sold in two versions; one without a neutral connection and one with a neutral connection. Make sure to order the neutral version if your installation location has a neutral wire present in the box your installing it into.I felt compelled to write this review in order to explain the difference and save everyone who reads this a lot of time and expense. This is the kind of knowledge that is usually only learned via years of experience and not from anything the manufacture prints in their instructions.Knowing all this from years of personal and professional experience, this is the first time that I have seen a product advertised as "Requires a Neutral Wire Connection". I has that feature and with the added internal relay, it did exactly what I needed to have done. I used it to automatically turn off an A/V Receiver/Amplifier for my backyard speakers so that I would not come inside after dark and leave the outside speakers on to disturb my neighbors. It worked great. I purchased the "two pack" and paired the other unit with a Duplex outlet to make a countdown timer control circuit for my electronic device chargers. Often times, some devices will not turn off the charging circuit and overcharge/heat the batteries. By using this application of the timer switch I can set it for an amount of charging time that will be safe for that device.I highly recommend this product for anyone who requires the unique and special features it provides.I hope you have found this helpful.Like the 2h and 4h.But wish the indicator LED stays on.Also need to press both the on switch and then the time setting.Works excellentIt was easy to install and worked great. Highly recommend. This is exactly what we were in need of for our main floor bathroom. The switch was easy to install, had multiple fan times, PLUS it allowed you to keep the fan on forever (press and hold the large button for 5 seconds, the fan will turn on and stay on until to the large button is pressed again). The instructions were pretty clear, but it's just a couple of wires so it's not that hard to install :)The blue night is nice and bright, so when we walk by the bathroom we can see that the fan is on, even if we can't hear it. HOWEVER, the blue light doesn't always stay on. For some reason the switch keeps resetting itself every few weeks. Meaning, when you press one of the timers, the blue light flashes indicating the time has been selected, but then the light turns off. Not allowing you to know how long the time was set for. You can reset this by pressing and holding the 5 + 10 min buttons for 8 seconds, which causes the blue light to turn back on. But it just something you have to remember. With little kids, they don't every remember, and they like to push the 4 hour button!Over all a great switch, just wish the blue light stayed on all the time. The installation was a pain in the neck because I live in a condo and they installed shallow electrical junction boxes in the construction (the box in the wall that the light switches connect to). The back of this product is big and bulky, and doesn't leave room for wires entering the shallow box. Wiring is pretty simple and has directions. Make sure to TURN OFF THE ELECTRICITY AT THE CIRCUIT BREAKER or get someone experienced to install it for you. When you press the time interval buttons, the light next to the button flashes a few times and turns off. The fan turns on for that amount of time. When you press the on/off button, the product remembers the time interval button you pressed last time and turns on the fan for that amount of time. The light flashes next to that time interval a few times and turns off.ex: press '5 mins' - fan turns on for 5 mins. The light next to "5 mins" button flashes a few times and turns off.Next time, you press the big "on/off" button - fan turns on for 5 mins. Light flashes a few times next to "5 mins" button and turns off.Press "on/off" button again to turn fan off.I wish the "on/off" button left the fan on indefinitely. I'm disappointed that wasn't mentioned in the description.Nice switch, easy to install but can be confusing and you may need a electrician depending on the switch you replace it with. I replaced a bathroom fan with this switch and it had a light switch next to it adding to the confusion and complexity (no fault of the switch). The red and black wires can be confusing and had to switch them. Outside of that the switch is easy to install, all wires are nicely labeled as BLACK, RED etc. it's a little bigger than a standard switch, so can be cramped.I love the feature where you can decide where you want the blue light to stay on or off. Just hold the 5min and 10min buttons for 5 seconds, and it will either turn off the blue lights if you find it annoying or out of place or if you like the blue light to be on, you can keep it on.Bought a pair to replace the FAN switches for both of my bathroom.Except the product, it also come with 4 wire caps and a single pole panel. You don't need to buy any other accessories. They should show this on the detail of the product.Installation is easier than I thought, 4 cables, 1 for Ground, 1 for Neutral, 2 for Hot(1 in 1 out).I need to use the wire caps they supply to join the hot wire and the cable of the timer switch together.I spent 15 minutes to install the 1st one. Then less than 10 minutes of the other one.The fan switch works as expected, I don't need to set a timer on my watch to remind me to turn the bathroom fan off anymore.I bought this timer thinking the large manual ON/OFF button is independent of the six small timer buttons but no when the manual button is pressed it will use the last timer that was used so if you need to keep the lights/fan on without the timer you have to press and hold the manual button for 8 seconds I don't like this at all and sadly I found this out after installing the timer, I wish I could get my money back.
