This makes a lovely child craft project. The age range is pretty broad (from 4-12) so depending on your child’s age will determine your level of involvement. I don’t think a child younger than 10 could assemble this on their own. This is a craft that takes some hand coordination and patience.The hardest part is gluing the flowers down. The glue sets quicker than most glues but still not fast enough, as you have to hold pieces in place for the the glue to set, which means patience and doing this in stages….something a younger child will have a harder time with.The set comes with a a wooden base that has a light string, a glass cover and instruction sheet, plus a unicorn and a variety of dried flowers to place around it, plenty for this craft and you may even have some leftover. It was fun to arrange these into place. Best to set the lights in place and then string the flowers around the lights and around the unicorn. It comes with tweezers to pick up and set the pieces.The glass cover is then set to fit within the groove of the wooden base. We ended up glueing this down so it stays closed. I wouldn’t want this knocked over and out comes our lovely display of flowers.The wooden base is not as nice as I had hoped, it could use some sanding and a stain. For us to spend this amount of time and effort on such a special craft, we want to keep it as a special décor in my daughters room and just wish it looked a little nicer.You’ll need three AAA batteries for the light to work, not included. These are placed as the bottom of the wooden base, presse the side button to turn on.Overall, this was a lovely little craft, and a keepsake to set on a shelf or window seal.Just be sure you have the patience to glue the pieces down, or find another faster setting glue.I will admit right from the start that I completely did not pay attention to the fact that this was a DIY project. I had assumed it was already together, so imagine my surprise when I open it and the first thing I notice is there’s a…glue bottle? Then dried flowers? It finally started making sense. It wasn’t something I had planned on doing that day, but it did give me a fun little side project to keep me busy for a little while.For a child’s project, it’s cute! I can see kids having fun arranging the flowers and lights to be where they want and how they want it. There are plenty of dried flowers included (they even have the funky dried flower smell for free haha) where they might not all be needed. When I had assembled it, there were still quite a few flowers left over. So there’s little chance of running out!There are only a couple downsides I noticed while putting this together. One, is that the glue takes quite a while to get to a stage where it won’t move. While it does dry quicker than some others, it’s still several minutes. Especially with the patience children usually have, having glue that sets quicker would be much better. I had to put it together in ‘stages’ and leave it to set and the glue to mostly dry before I could move on to the next. The other downside is that the wooden base is quite cheap. It looks like a generic, mass-produced base. Which is probably fine for most, and isn’t something I’m going to knock another star off for. But if you want something a little more ‘nice’ looking, the base could use some sanding, maybe a nice coat of stain or sealant.A couple of things to keep in mind for this as well – the included instructions are alright. It’s basically just ‘put it together how you want and glue down’. I did find that it was personally easier for me to get the lights set on the base how I wanted, glued, and then sort of ‘thread’ the dried flowers through the lights and around the unicorn. I then snipped off any excess stem that went over the edge. I didn’t actually glue any of the flowers down short of the large one that was included, as I feel it would have been much more time consuming to sit and hold down each flower until it wouldn’t pull away from the glue and base. The other important thing is that the dome doesn’t actually ‘attach’ to the base. It simply sits in the groove. Even with older children, I wouldn’t feel safe knowing that the globe part could be knocked off quite easily and shatter. So I glued the globe part into the groove of the base. Problem solved!Overall, a cute, easy DIY project that I’m sure kids would enjoy. Just make sure you’ve got the time and patience for the glue, it doesn’t set as quick as you’d like.My daughter loved this for Christmas. We ended up not using the glue though bc it wast fast drying at all and I'm my opinion not the best tip for this type of project. The glue was messy as well. My mom bought my daughter and niece one for Christmas and they both came broken. My daughter was so upset so my mom ordered her a new one and again, it came broken. The glass is paper thin and breaks very easy even though it is inside of styrofoam.My grandchildren loved creating this beautiful snow globe. My grandson loved that it included not only a “mommy snowman but a baby snowman” in his words!Great Product!! I purchased it is thanksgiving gift for my six year old niece ! She was so excited to make her own night light. The instructions was easy to follow and everything was included. It’s supper nice !My niece loved it soo much. All she can do was stare at it and say how beautiful it was and how perfect it was. This would be a really great gift for a little girl.
